Devon, Cornwall & Dorset Detectorists (DCDD UK) is a premier, responsible metal detecting club operating across the South West of England. We bring together passionate history enthusiasts, experienced detectorists, and agricultural landowners across Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, and Somerset.
Our club was founded on trust, transparency, and deep respect for British history. Therefore, we ensure every event is managed with the highest standards of land care, legal compliance, and community spirit.
1. Our Mission
We exist to promote responsible metal detecting while recovering and preserving the rich history of the South West. Because of this, we work hand-in-hand with landowners, farmers, and archaeologists. As a result, every discovery is properly recorded, respected, and shared transparently.
2. What Sets DCDD UK Apart

- Dual-Layer Insurance Protection: Safety and peace of mind come first. DCDD UK holds dedicated Club Event Organiser Insurance. In addition, every single member carries £10,000,000 in individual public liability insurance through the National Council for Metal Detecting (NCMD) or FID.
- Professional Event Management: Our digs are structured and disciplined. Experienced team leaders actively marshal every event throughout the day. Consequently, we guarantee strict boundary control, field etiquette, and livestock safety.
- Ethical Heritage Preservation: We strictly adhere to the Treasure Act 1996. Furthermore, we log all historically significant items with local Finds Liaison Officers (FLOs) through the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS).
- Fair Landowner Partnerships: We treat our host landowners as true partners. Therefore, we operate under clear 50/50 find-split agreements for high-value items, collect sharp field scrap, and repair target plugs neatly.
