Recently, metal detectorists Jay Faust and Pete Penfold answered an urgent call for help after a visitor’s mother-in-law lost her ring on the beach. With the tide rapidly rushing in, the window to find it was closing fast.
Beach detecting on wet, salty sand is notoriously tough on equipment, but Jay was armed with the XP Deus II—a detector renowned for handling harsh saltwater conditions with ease. Jay and Pete systematically scanned the shoreline, battling both time and the rising water.
After an intense hour of searching, Jay caught a solid signal right along the foam line. Digging down just before another wave swept over the spot, he scooped up the ring. It was literally minutes away from being pulled out to sea forever.
