Iron age copper alloy boar

Nice find…

Amazing little Iron Age Copper Helmet Crest 1200 BC – 550 BC. Found in Devon by group member Andy Blackwell on one of his local permissions.

Figurine of a boar of a naturalistic style. Underneath, from the legs to the jaw, there is a deep cast slot indicative of the object having been mounted on a projecting piece of metal or crest.

Iron age fact…

How did Iron Age get its name?

‘The Iron Age‘ is the name given to the time period (from approximately 500 BC to 43 AD in Britain) where iron became the preferred choice of metal for making tools. In Europe, The Iron Age marks the end of prehistory after the Stone Age and the Bronze Age.
